- ItemModule Nine: Database Programming(2023-04-23) Chepken K.CModule nine of the database systems course? Yes it is. If you have followed this course sequentially from module one, congratulations that you have made good progress. If you just jumped into this module, you are welcome to this course. Just ensure that you are familiar with the database systems basics including the database environment, normalization and SQL queries. In this module you will learn about data processing and specifically Database programming languages, file organization and indexes, query and transaction processing.
- ItemCSF117 Module 1 IoT architecture and components(2023-04-23) Dr. Andrew Mwaura KahongeHello and welcome to the introductory module of the IoT and Security course. IoT stands for Internet of Things and is a concept that has received a lot of attention in the past few years. The term IoT basically means a technology that allows communication between devices over the internet. Also between devices and humans over the internet or network. These devices can include sensors, microcontrollers and actuators. Some are smart devices and others are not. Smart devices are those that do some bit of processing before conveying information across to other devices or to humans. In this module, we will start by learning about the architecture of IoT; basically how devices may be organized for the purpose of interacting with each other and with humans, the hardware and software components involved, the different abstraction layers of an IoT architecture. After introducing the IoT architecture, we will then learn about the different components in IoT, or the “Things” in IoT. There are smart components and non-smart components. We will learn about their communication capabilities, naming and addressing these components - because they interact with each other and therefore there is a need to uniquely address them, their processing power and their capabilities.
